Duncan MacKenzie

Biography

Duncan MacKenzie was born in Born in Montreal, Cananda in 1964. From 1974 - 1984 he lived in Princeton, NJ, and attended Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 with a degree in glass and sculpture. At RISD, he also had the opportunity to study landscape architecture. In 1989 he moved to Bonny Doon, CA in the mountains above Santa Cruz. He built a studio from recycled materials and started Highland Glass in 1991. He attended graduate school in 2001 at California State University, San Jose where he pursued sculptural projects focused on space, time, and the earth. He is currently working on environments that use sculptural elements to highlight annual solar alignments in Telluride, CO.
