Subject: “The Ghosts of the Goose”

Abstract: My interest in the Rio Grande Southern relates directly to the proximity of my residence on the abandoned rail grade. My family has found many items related to the train and its cargo, both human and other, that spark household discussion and thought about the historic significance of the train in our region. Many of the trademark elements of the train infrastructure are gone – but enough remain to serve as a reminder. My intent with the “Ghosts of the Goose” GIS cultural layer is to provide spatial reference to historic photos and stories and to provide limited personal impressions of these sites and to try to learn a little more about an often forgotten piece of Telluride History.
