The Interactive Watershed

The Interactive Watershed links geoinformation tools with the observations, subjective experiences, and creative responses of individuals living and working in the San Miguel River Basin in Southwestern Colorado.

Using an existing Geographic Information System (GIS), a cultural layer is being created that is correlated with existing built and natural features related to the regional watershed. The goals of this action research are to capture local “subjective” experience of the watershed and to collaboratively generate a user knowledge base that encourages community dialogue and aids policy decisions regarding water and water use in the San Miguel River basin.
